Data You Give Us Directly
A name, telephone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party company that supplies those results. Honolulu Residents Directory does not retain a copy of that search on its own servers. When you contact us, we receive the details you choose to include and use them to answer your message.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard hosting logs may record an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We review combined traffic data to maintain the service and understand which resources are useful. Basic analytics and advertising measurement may rely on cookies or comparable technology where applicable.
What We Do With This Data
We use this limited information to operate the service, diagnose faults, measure visits, and improve content. We neither sell lists of visitors nor create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to City and County of Honolulu offices, Hawaiʻi agencies, libraries, archives, and outside search services. Information submitted after leaving this service is governed by the destination's policy. The same rule applies to sponsored results supplied by an outside company.
Who Might See Your Data
Companies that host or support the service may process server-log data on our behalf. Analytics or advertising providers may receive the automatic data described above. We may also disclose information when compelled by valid legal process.
How We Protect Your Data
An encrypted connection protects data in transit, and logs are retained only while needed for the purposes stated here. Because the service has no user accounts, it stores no visitor password or account profile.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, not children. We do not knowingly gather personal data from anyone younger than 18. Contact us if a minor may have submitted information so that it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Depending on applicable law, a person may have rights involving personal data that a website actually holds, such as access or correction. Hawaiʻi has no enacted comprehensive consumer data-broker deletion or universal opt-out statute. The 2026 proposal known as HB2463, the Hawaiʻi Drop and Delete Act, is not current law. Since we retain little data, a request usually concerns the contact mailbox or server logs. Send it through the Contact page. Government records remain under the control and correction process of the relevant Honolulu or Hawaiʻi custodian.
Updates to This Policy
Revisions will appear on this page. Continued use after a posted revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
