1. Nature of the Service
Honolulu Residents Directory is a privately run reference for public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections concerning Honolulu and Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. It does not host government records and is not connected with the City and County of Honolulu, the State of Hawaiʻi, any court, library, agency, or records custodian.
2. Acceptable Use Rules
Use this service and any information reached through it only in a lawful manner. You must not use it to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
- Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
- Interfere with the site's operation or security
3. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
Honolulu Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither its content nor results from a linked tool are consumer reports. They may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.
4. Links to Outside Sites
Hawaiʻi and Honolulu government portals, sponsored search providers, and other outside services set their own terms and privacy rules. Their content, availability, fees, and data practices are outside our control.
5. No Warranties
The service is offered "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that its content will be complete, accurate, or current, or that an external portal will remain available or return a correct match.
6. Limits on Our Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages resulting from this service, an outside resource, or reliance on a record reached through either.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys' fees, caused by your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
Copyright protects the original wording, design, logo, and layout. You may link to a page or quote a short attributed excerpt, but may not republish whole pages or systematically copy the content.
9. Changes to These Terms
A revised version may be posted here. Your continued use after publication means that you accept the revision.
10. Cutting Off Access
Access may be limited or blocked, without notice, when a user abuses the service or violates these terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaiʻi, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Access to Hawaiʻi agency records is separately governed by the Uniform Information Practices Act, HRS chapter 92F, and its administrative rules in HAR chapter 2-71. Those laws do not make Honolulu Residents Directory a government custodian or expand access to exempt records.
12. Severability
If one provision cannot be enforced, every remaining provision continues in effect.
